Count the number of days, working days, weekends, weeks, hours, and minutes between any two dates.
Whether you are counting down to a holiday, tracking a project deadline, calculating notice periods, or working out how many working days remain until an event, knowing the exact number of days between two dates is surprisingly useful. This day counter calculator gives you a complete breakdown: total calendar days, full weeks, working days (Monday to Friday), weekend days, and the equivalent in hours and minutes. Unlike a simple date difference, this calculator provides context that matters for real-world planning. The working days count helps with employment calculations such as notice periods, annual leave, and project timelines. The weekend count helps distinguish between calendar time and business time. Whether your dates are in the past or the future, the calculator handles both directions and always returns a positive result.
To count the days between two dates: 1. Select your start date using the date picker. This can be any date, past or future. 2. Select your end date. If your end date is before your start date, the calculator will still return the correct number of days (it calculates the absolute difference). 3. View your results, which include: total calendar days between the dates, the number of complete weeks and extra days, working days (Monday to Friday only), weekend days (Saturdays and Sundays), and the total time expressed in hours and minutes. 4. The chart shows a visual comparison of working days versus weekend days to help you understand the split at a glance.
The day counter performs several calculations from your two dates: Total days is the absolute difference between the start and end dates, measured in whole calendar days. If the dates are swapped (end before start), the calculator reverses them automatically to give a positive result. Weeks and remaining days break the total into complete 7-day weeks plus any leftover days. For example, 30 days equals 4 weeks and 2 extra days. Working days count the number of weekdays (Monday through Friday) between the dates. The formula uses full weeks (each containing 5 working days) plus a careful count of any remaining days, checking each one against the day of the week. Weekend days are the complement: total days minus working days. This counts all Saturdays and Sundays that fall within the date range. Hours and minutes are simple conversions: total days multiplied by 24 for hours, and hours multiplied by 60 for minutes. These represent elapsed time, not business hours.

This calculator counts calendar days and does not account for UK bank holidays or regional holidays. If you need to calculate business days for employment or legal purposes, subtract any applicable bank holidays from the working days count. England and Wales have 8 bank holidays per year; Scotland has 9; Northern Ireland has 10.
